Our Story

We set out to solve a problem. With having eczema on my hands and having a career in a blue collar industry, my hands are always dirty but every time I washed them it just made the eczema worse. And we can all agree that when your hands need washed there is not always access to water. 

Between working with tools, running a business, and just living real life, our hands were always dirty.... and our skin was always paying the price. Most soaps either dried us out, triggered irritation, or just didn’t work. And forget about staying clean on the go — when there’s no sink nearby, what are you supposed to do? IF I am being completely honest, because of the problems washing caused my hands, I really didn’t like to wash them. I often found myself- after doing something that made my hands dirty- asking do I really need to wash, or could I wait? Anything to put off the pain and irritation it was going to cause.

We needed something different. Something powerful, but gentle. Natural, but effective. Something that wasn’t going to cause me pain, but would help my hands.
Something safe enough for our kids, and tough enough for our jobs. Even if there wasn’t water near by. So we started researching natural ingredients, trying to find what would sooth and hydrate my already irritated skin while lifting grease and impurities so they can be wiped away.

So we started making it ourselves — in small batches, right in our kitchen. That’s when Funky Monkey Soap ™ Co. was born.

We believe clean shouldn’t come at the cost of comfort. Our soaps are rinse-free, eczema-friendly, and made with ingredients you can actually pronounce. They're for real people, real messes, and real skin.

You won’t find glitter, perfume, or gimmicks here — as a matter of fact- we have not added anything to change the smell or look, you can actually smell the oatmeal and the clay actually used in the manufacturing - just real soap for real life. We’re proud to make products that are tough on messes and gentle on skin.

I named it Funky Monkey because cleaning up shouldn’t feel clinical or boring — it should feel real, honest, and a little fun. Whether you’re a mechanic, mom, gardener, DIYer, or anyone who earns their dirt, we built this for you.
